Josh Johnson of the Marlins and Yovani Gallardo of the Brewers might want a copy of their boxscores from Monday. Johnson threw a complete game three-hitter in a 10-1 blowout of the Padres. Gallardo gave up 2 runs (both unearned) in 6 innings in a 17-3 blowout of the Pirates. But what they'll be really proud of is what they did at the plate as each had 3 RBI.

The last time a pair of pitchers had 3+ RBI in the same day...

June 9, 1999. There were bizarre circumstances here. Both pitchers were relievers - Guillermo Mota and Curt Leskanic... and each hit a 3-run homer.

May 15, 1984- Tim Lollar and Joaquin Andujar.

Why Jered Weaver won:
- With his fastball getting hit (4-10 Monday), he went to his offspeed stuff (50.0 pct of pitches Monday, 37.4 before). The Indians went 3-15 with 5 of 7 K vs non-fastballs (opponents hit .222 with less than half their K vs Weaver's non-fastballs before Monday).

Why Dan Haren won:
- Devastating offspeed stuff resulted in hitters going 1-6 vs cutter and curve. Haren's cutter and curve had been getting smoked prior to Monday (6-10, 2 HR). Haren's splitter was nasty as usual, accounting for 5 of his 10 K. Hitters chased 61.5 percent of his splitters. On the season 23 of Haren's 38 K have been on the splitter.

Hitter of the Night:
Brandon Inge, DET: 3-5, 2 HR (2), 3 RBI

Inge ended a 46-game homerless streak in a big way Monday night, blasting two HR for his sixth career multi-homer game. By hitting each homer on the second pitch of the at-bat, Inge continued a trend from last season. Inge's OPS on plate appearances ending in the first two pitches was 1.102 in 2009, well above the MLB average of .872. However, when a plate appearance lasted beyond two pitches, Inge's OPS dropped to .614, below the league average of .701. So far this season, Inge has a 1.300 OPS in the first two pitches, compared with .651 afterwards.
