SweetSpot: SweetSpot TV

Eric and I analyze some trade ideas suggested by readers -- some good, some interesting and some a little out there.

Eric Karabell and myself make our predictions for the American League ... including a couple that might surprise you! Or anger you. Or make you laugh. But we both agree on the team that will represent the AL in the World Series. Which probably means we'll be wrong.

There aren’t many games left! Eric Karabell and myself discuss all the playoff races in the American League. Which team wins the Central? Do the Yankees hold off the Orioles? Can the Angels catch the A’s?

Eric Karabell and I discuss the season's biggest surprises and disappointments. Yes, I once predicted great things from the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Oakland A's take on the Angels while ranking ahead of them in the standings. How are the A's doing it, and how can you not be exciting about their doing it?

Keith Law has an Insider piece up on 10 prospects with the most trade value Insider. To sort of go along with Keith's piece, Eric Karabell and myself discuss the player with the most trade value (take a guess) plus a few other players.

As the trade deadline approaches, Eric Karabell and myself discuss some of this season's surprise teams and whether the Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland A's should be looking to buy ... at the risk of trading away some good prospects.

Two big debates on this edition of SweetSpot TV: Is Mike Trout the best player in the American League ... right now? OK, Josh Hamilton is pretty good but there's an argument to be made. And with the Texas Rangers' rotation struggling a bit, how vulnerable are they to the Angels' surge? Eric Karabell and myself have a fun discussion.

Are the White Sox now the team to beat in the AL Central? Or are the Tigers still the best club? Eric Karabell and myself enjoy a little debate.

Eric and I recorded this on Monday. It goes with this post on the NL's best team. You can go vote in the poll on that page, but here are the results through nearly 8,000 votes:

Braves: 40 percent
Dodgers: 25 percent
Cardinals: 14 percent
Nationals: 11 percent
Other: 10 percent

The Baltimore Orioles are 19-10 and tied for first place. The Washington Nationals are 18-10 and in first place. The Beltway has been plagued with a lot of losing baseball, but 2012 is shaping up as an exciting summer for the O's and Nats.

Which team will win more games? Eric Karabell and myself argue, debate and yell at each other! OK, we don't really yell.

Eric Karabell and I have a new segment we're calling SweetSpot Stock Watch, where we rationally discuss and occasionally argue about a few players. Today's edition: Red Sox prospect Will Middlebrooks, Cardinals starters Lance Lynn and Kyle Lohse, red-hot Bryan LaHair and Orioles pitcher Jake Arrieta, coming off his dominant effort against the Yankees on Thursday night. And don't forget to check out Eric's fantasy baseball blog on ESPN Insider!
