Why the Diamondbacks can win it all

1. They have 48 come-from-behind wins: The most exciting of which came on Tuesday when the D-backs scored six times in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat the Dodgers on a walkoff grand slam from Ryan Roberts. Arizona will face adversity in the playoffs, but judging from the way it handled it all season, the team should be fine in that regard.

2. J.J. Putz: Since Aug. 13, the D-backs' closer hasn't given up a run. In September, he only allowed five baserunners. If Arizona has a lead in the ninth inning, Putz will lock it down.

3. Hot three starters: In September, the trio of Ian Kennedy, Joe Saunders and Daniel Hudson went 9-4 with a 2.43 ERA. The three postseason starters for the D-backs also eat up a ton of innings, too. If they can throw seven innings in the playoffs, Arizona will be in good shape with David Hernandez and Putz in the back end of the bullpen.

4. They can hit the Phillies: In six games against Philadelphia, the D-backs scored 21 runs. On top of that, Arizona's three wins came against Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt. So the team already has confidence against the intimidating Phillies pitching staff.

5. Nobody thinks they can: Out of the eight teams in the MLB playoffs, the D-backs are the biggest surprise. The Rays are a close second, just because they are in the AL East but no one saw Arizona coming. It's been a magical season in the desert and every time the odds are stacked up against the team, they always seem to find a way to win. This club is set up for the future, but with the way 2011 has played out so far, making a run in the playoffs doesn't seem so far-fetched with this balanced squad.
