DALLAS -- Some comments from Brewers manager Ron Roenicke from his session at the winter meetings:
Ron Roenicke
On managing in the postseason compared to the regular season: "The managing part was different. Obviously, I didn't stick with Casey McGehee, because Jerry Hairston was hot. ... The media was different. They were certainly more critical of my moves."
On retaining Hairston as a free agent: "We'd love to have him back. He was a great addition, with a terrific attitude. He's a very confident guy, cocky at times. Which you need in the playoffs."
On Jonathan Lucroy: "He still has a lot of work to do. He knows that. I talked to him about three weeks ago, and he was disappointed in a lot of things he did this season, even on offense, although I thought he had a pretty good offensive year. He'd like his walks to be higher, his strikeouts to be lower."
On his bullpen situation (the team has offered Francisco Rodriguez arbitration, but Takashi Saito and LaTroy Hawkins are free agents): "We were unbelievable last year, with Saito and Rodriguez. We're not going to have all those pieces this year, so we'll have to rely more on some of the young guys."
