Tuesday, we’ll announce our selection for Defensive Player of the Year, but to whet your appetite we give you a quick look at the Defensive Player of the Month selection for September.

Royals left fielder Alex Gordon beat out Mariners shortstop Brendan Ryan, Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias and Orioles first baseman Mark Reynolds (yes, an unlikely nominee) for the month’s top defensive honors, based on consultation with the folks at Baseball Info Solutions.
