Today's links woke up this morning in a bad mood, but brightened upon remembering the refreshing qualities of the benign indifference of the world ...

* In case you kids back East missed it, Memories of Kevin Malone presents the Stephen Drew Throw of Fail (which was even better if you were all wrapped up in the game, like us kids out West).

* This is probably the most acrobatic play I've ever seen a catcher make (and it might win him a Gold Glove, all by itself).

* Roger Ebert really likes "The Perfect Game." I might have to see it, if only because Cool Papa Bell (played by Lou Gossett) makes an appearance.

* If you ask me, Major League Baseball should be ashamed that there's just one No. 42 left.

* You know, people have been asking the same question for as long as I can remember, and other people keep coming up with the same answer. Are we good? Finally?

* I don't want to beat this thing to death, but ... wait, yeah, I do. Blogging means never having to say you're finished until you're ready. So let me close (for now) the discussion of the Pierzynski Affair with this ... People tell me there's nothing to be done about it. It's true. Now. But the NHL has a rule that covers just this situation. In hockey, it's called "embellishment." And A.J. Pierzynski is baseball's all-time champion.

* Hey, no joke. Next week maybe I'll be ripping this guy again, but not today. And definitely not as long as he's hitting a home run in every game.

* And people say bloggers aren't good athletes. Ha!
