So the Padres did it: They went 1-for-24 on Monday and finished June with a .171 batting average -- the lowest team average for a month since the lively ball era began in 1920.

Remarkably, the Padres actually won the game, beating the Reds 1-0 as Jesse Hahn and four relievers combined for a five-hit, 12-strikeout shutout. San Diego's run scored without the benefit of a hit, as Tommy Medica walked, stole second and advanced on two fly balls. Your 2014 Padres!
"At the end of the day, you want to win the game," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Today, we won it with pitching."
