- Speaking of books, I just got my copy of the Hardball Times Annual 2011. If you want to know what just happened and what's going to happen, this is your single best source. And I would say that even if I hadn't written something for it. Honest.
- UniWatch's verdict on the three uniform changes revealed so far? Two mild upgrades and a meh.
- As I think I mentioned when the Gold Gloves were announced, Oakland's Daric Barton -- a converted catcher, no less -- absolutely blew away every other first baseman in the majors this year, statistically. Baseballin' on a Budget digs deep and figures exactly how Barton did it.
- What if Jamie Moyer had been just average in his 20s? (Granted, the scenario presupposes that if he'd been average in his 20s, he would also have been healthy in his 30s and early (and middle) 40s. I'll have lots more on Moyer this winter, by the way. Secret offseason project. Please don't ask me anything else about it. I'm begging you.
- It's been a while since I've looked at Nate Silver's blog because I've been doing my best to avoid serious political coverage. But now it's OK again because Nate has turned his intellect back toward baseball. Or Derek Jeter's contract negotiations, anyway.
- Meanwhile, it says here that Tampa Bay should sign Jeter. Which would be great except for busting their budget and leaving them with a just-decent player in 2012 or '13. Otherwise, definitely.
