Crawford hitting leadoff, Sox-Yankees chat

4/8/2011

First off, Terry Francona moved Carl Crawford to the leadoff spot and Jacoby Ellsbury down to eighth for this afternoon's game. Look, this makes perfect sense. Crawford is a better hitter than Ellsbury and despite his apparent reluctance to hit leadoff in Tampa Bay, it's the right move. Ellsbury is, at best, the team's seventh-best hitter and shouldn't be at the top of order.

Mostly mild cheers as the Red Sox are getting introduced at Fenway. Biggest cheers for Jason Varitek and Adrian Gonzalez.

Finally, join ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes and Joe McDonald along with cohorts from ESPNNewYork.com for a live chat during today's game. They'll kick things off around 2 p.m. ET.
