Yankees: Best- and worst-case scenarios
By David Schoenfield
How many games will the New York Yankees win? Dan Szymborski's ZiPS system projects the Yankees to win 83 games -- good for fourth in a tough AL East where all five teams are projected to finish over .500.
But that's a projection -- the middle ground, so to speak. Mark Simon uses WAR to outline the best-case scenario for the Yankees ... and the worst-case scenario.
In the worst-case scenario, Mark still has Robinson Cano posting an MVP-caliber season, Brett Gardner having a good year, and Ivan Nova and David Phelps making solid contributions. And the Yankees could still lose 90 games.
Check back later this afternoon for a post from a Yankees fan. What do their fans expect heading into the season?
