TAMPA, Fla. -- It remains to be seen if cornerback Johnthan Banks has picked up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense, but it’s pretty obvious the rookie is a smart guy.

Banks said he knows he’s going to have a target on him when the Buccaneers open their season against the New York Jets on Sunday. In fact, Banks knows opposing offenses are likely to challenge him all season.

“Who wouldn’t?" Banks said. “I’m a rookie and you’ve got (Darrelle) Revis on the (other) side. Me and (Leonard Johnson) have our work cut out for us. We get paid to do this. We’ve got to go out there and hold up."

It remains to be seen if Banks or Johnson will start. But whichever one doesn’t is going to get plenty of playing time in nickel packages.
