Dashon Goldson a new leader for Bucs

September, 5, 2013
TAMPA, Fla. -- It didn't take Dashon Goldson very long to establish himself as a leader for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Coaches have been raving about Goldson’s leadership skills since he arrived as a free agent. On Thursday, Goldson’s teammates showed how they feel by electing the free safety a captain.

Goldson said he was one of five captains selected. Gerald McCoy is the other defensive captain. Guard Davin Joseph and receiver Vincent Jackson are the offensive captains and Adam Hayward will represent the special teams.

“Coming in from a different organization and being elected captain, I’m very humbled and honored by it,’’ Goldson said. “It speaks volumes about how they feel about me as a player and as a man. It’s really a great honor and I’m very gratified.’’
