TAMPA, Fla. – In an NFL Nation poll players from around the league were asked which player they would start a team with. The winner was Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck was the runner-up.

But let’s narrow the focus of this question to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I don’t think anyone would say rookie Mike Glennon is a franchise quarterback yet, so Tampa Bay’s cornerstone will have to come from another position. I see three strong candidates that arguably are the best in the league at their position. That’s defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, linebacker Lavonte David and cornerback Darrelle Revis. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

But, if I had to take one, I’d take McCoy because everything starts up front. If you’re strong in the middle of the defensive line, you have a good start on being strong everywhere else on defense.
