TAMPA, Fla. -- Monday might end up being one of the most significant days in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Lovie Smith officially will be introduced as the 10th coach in franchise history. There will be smiles and happy talk about the future. There should be because hiring Smith is one of the best things the Bucs have done in a very long time.
This franchise has fallen on hard times. But Smith might just have a map to a new era of success. Smith was the team’s linebackers coach back when Tony Dungy turned things around in the 1990s. Smith also had a fair amount of success as the head coach in Chicago, leading the Bears to a Super Bowl appearance.
I’ll be out at One Buccaneer Place this afternoon and will bring you highlights of what Smith has to say.
