Let’s reach into the mailbag for our question of the day.
Sean in Gainesville, Fla., and Mark in Plattsburg, N.Y., ask about the possibility of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trading down in the first round of the draft.
I like the idea a lot. The Bucs have only five draft picks at the moment, and I’d like to see them get to six or seven. New general manager Jason Licht has talked about the importance of building through the draft, and I would think he’d be open to scenarios in which he could add picks.
This year’s draft is unusually strong. The Bucs could trade out of the No. 7 position and still get a player of similar quality in the middle of the first round.
They also could add more draft picks that might be able to help right away. I wouldn’t expect any moves any time soon. But when the draft starts in May and the Bucs are on the clock, it might be a wise move for them to field trade offers and see what they can get.
