Bucs question: Mike Williams' future

Time to reach into the mailbag for our question of the day.

Hunter in Charlotte, N.C., asks if wide receiver Mike Williams' days with the Buccaneers are numbered.

The new regime isn't happy that Williams' name has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Coach Lovie Smith has made it clear he's not going to put up with off-field problems.

Williams, who is facing two misdemeanor charges, could be used as an example to the rest of the team. But the cost of simply releasing Williams would be high. He has a $1.2 million guaranteed base salary for this year and another $5.2 million guaranteed for next year.

My best guess is the Bucs will give Williams another shot. But he'll be operating with no margin of error. If there are any more off-field issues, Williams will be gone.
