Pre-draft glance: Quarterbacks

We continue our pre-draft position-by-position look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the quarterbacks.

Where things stand: One of the first moves the team made in free agency was to sign Josh McCown. He’s a reliable veteran with ties to coach Lovie Smith. McCown was designated as the starter on the day he was signed. Mike Glennon started 13 games as a rookie last season and did some positive things under difficult circumstances. But it doesn’t seem like the new coaching staff is sold on Glennon.

What to watch for: This is a spot to watch closely in the first round. There have been reports that the Bucs are very high on Johnny Manziel and they could take him with the seventh overall pick. They could open the season with McCown as the starter and give Manziel some time to get ready. If the Bucs do take a quarterback in the first round, Glennon almost certainly will be gone. But Glennon should have some trade value and could bring the Bucs a draft pick in return.
