We're only days removed from the 2014 NFL draft. But ESPN draft guru Todd McShay already is looking ahead to next year's version.
Here's McShay's Insider mock draft for 2015. Apparently, McShay isn't buying into all the talk about Mike Glennon being the quarterback of the future. He has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota in the first round.
I only see that happening if things go badly for both veteran Josh McCown and Glennon in 2014. But that's what McShay is forecasting. He has the Bucs drafting No. 8 in 2015, based on a projected 7-9 record in 2014.
I think the Bucs will fare better than 7-9. I think they're very serious about their thoughts on Glennon. This is a team that wants to win right away and that's why McCown was brought in.
The plan appears to be for McCown to hand the torch to Glennon at some point. Drafting Mariota next year would mean the Bucs would be starting over. I don't think that's what coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jason Licht have in mind.
