The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shook up the bottom of their roster Wednesday morning, signing four players and releasing three.

The Bucs signed tight end Cameron Brate, wide receiver Quintin Payton, quarterback Alex Tanney and tight end Ian Thompson. The Bucs waived defensive lineman David Hunter, punter Jacob Schum and quarterback Brett Smith.

Since he’s a quarterback Tanney is the most intriguing of the new additions. Tanney has spent time with Kansas City, Dallas and Cleveland. In college at Division III Monmouth, Tanney set the NCAA record for all-time career touchdown passes with 157.

Tanney will have a chance to compete with Mike Kafka for the third quarterback spot. Josh McCown is locked in as the starter and Mike Glennon is the top backup.
