The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have another competitor in their battle for the slot receiver position.

David Gettis will be one of six players taking part in this week’s minicamp on a tryout basis. The Bucs have nothing to lose and plenty to gain if Gettis can stay healthy.

As a rookie with Carolina in 2010, Gettis played mostly in the slot. He finished that season with 37 catches for 508 yards and three touchdowns. But injuries have prevented Gettis from being a factor since his rookie season.

The other players trying out during minicamp are safety Anthony Dye, cornerback Kip Edwards, linebacker T.J. Fatinikun, defensive tackle Ronald Talley and punter Kirby Van Der Kamp.
