Well, it’s happened again. The Tampa Bay Times reports that Williams is being sued by an insurance company for alleged damages to a rental property. Williams previously had been sued by the landlord, and his off-field problems didn’t stop there. Williams was charged with misdemeanor trespassing and, in an unrelated incident, was stabbed in the thigh by his brother.
On their own, none of the incidents seem that serious. But there’s a pattern here and coach Lovie Smith said he doesn’t like negative patterns. The Bucs have stood by Williams so far, but it’s fair to wonder if that will stop if off-field problems keep coming.
Williams is a good, but not great, wide receiver. His off-field issues could end up making him expendable.
