Mel Kiper has Bucs staying on course

TAMPA, Fla. -- Mel Kiper Jr. has his third mock draft out, and it’s no different than his first two at the top.

With the first overall pick, Kiper has the Buccaneers taking Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. That’s no surprise, as most mocks I’ve seen have the Bucs taking Winston.

All the signs are pointing in that direction. Coach Lovie Smith had nice things to say about Winston off the field at the scouting combine. And we all know what Winston can do on the field. He’s much more ready to play in a pro-style offense than Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

The Bucs also had Winston in for their first pre-draft visit this week. They certainly seem to be leaning toward him.

The only way I see Winston not being the pick is if the Bucs' research into his off-field activities reveals a big problem, or he has another off-field incident.
