Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans ...
The big surprise of the season has been the big turnaround of the hapless defense from a year ago, says John Glennon of The Tennessean.
Colin McCarthy is going to start at middle linebacker for Moise Fokou, who’s got a sprained knee, on Sunday against the 49ers. Mike Munchak revealed the news on his Tuesday night radio show, says Glennon.
Teams that have played Seattle are 0-5 in their next game, says David Boclair of the Nashville Post.
The simplest explanation is always the best. Boclair applies Occam’s Razor to the Titans’ run game and concludes Chris Johnson is simply not the running back everybody wants him to be. “... [T]here are nine running backs in the league with at least 100 carries thus far in 2013. Johnson, with 106, is the only one of the group that has not run for at least 400 yards. At 327, he’s not actually that close.”
Ryan Fitzpatrick’s been the fourth-worst quarterback in the league so far, according to Will Brinson of CBS’ Eye on Football.
