Titans need to be safe with Locker

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jake Locker is giving the Tennessee Titans hope, but that hope should be about Nov. 3 in St. Louis, not Sunday at LP Field.

Locker did more in limited practice Thursday than he did Wednesday; that means minimal work, likely a handful of snaps, in 11-on-11. But one thing he said afterward should throw up a stop sign.

“There are certain things that don’t feel normal yet, but I am feeling pretty good and just trying to get better and progress through that stuff,” he said, per Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.

Play him against the San Francisco 49ers with “certain things that don’t feel normal yet” and how good would he be? (I hear you talking to your computer screen: “Better than Ryan Fitzpatrick." Still…) Play him with “certain things that don’t feel normal yet” and see him get hurt, and you may just ruin the remainder of the season.

He’s been cleared for contact. But one more Sunday off buys the Titans two weeks to get him ready. They have a bye following the San Francisco game.

Unless Locker tells them that things feel a lot closer to normal by Sunday, the Titans shouldn’t spend much time thinking about taking a chance.
