Former Lions coach Jim Schwartz waiting on Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz sat out the 2015 season.

He's apparently a hot commodity for multiple defensive coordinator posts now.

But he's not going to surface for any of them before things are settled with the team based where he lives.

Schwartz has planted strong roots in Nashville and indications are he is going to wait out the Tennessee Titans to see what they do before he makes a decision on any other opportunity.

Schwartz started out with the Browns and Ravens, worked his way up to defensive coordinator with the Titans, revived the 0-16 Lions and took them to the playoffs and had success coordinating the Bills for Doug Marrone after he was fired in Detroit.

It appears he has not landed a shot at any of the league's open head coaching positions and that his first choice as a coordinator would be to work for whoever is hired by the Titans.

The team has three scheduled coaching interviews that have been reported: Incumbent interim coach Mike Mularkey and Marrone are slated to interview on Thursday, snf Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin is scheduled to interview on Friday.

Given that roster of candidates, I'd say Schwartz should be getting a call about interviewing for the top job, not sitting and waiting to see if the hire likes him as his coordinator.

Hopefully more names surface soon.
