That move saved the team $6.5 million against the salary cap.
Cap room is not going to be a big issue for the Titans, who will be able to spend plenty in free agency if they choose to do so. They should have between $40-$45 million.
If any other roster moves are money-driven, they won't be about big money. There are some bonuses pending and some salaries that get guaranteed.
The league year starts on March 9 and on that day, receiver Kendall Wright’s $7.32 million base salary becomes fully guaranteed.
Five days after the start of the league year:
Receiver Harry Douglas is due a $500,000 roster bonus.
Running back Dexter McCluster is due a $375,000 roster bonus.
Defensive lineman Karl Klug is due a $200,000 roster bonus.
Other things that happen on the fifth day of the league year:
Defensive lineman Jurrell Casey's base salary of $5.4 million becomes fully guaranteed.
Outside linebacker Derrick Morgan's base salary of $4.5 million converts from guaranteed for injury only to fully guaranteed.
Outside linebacker Brian Orakpo's base salary of $6.5 million converts from guaranteed for injury only to fully guaranteed.
Strong safety Da’Norris Searcy’s has $3.5 million of his $5 million base salary convert from guaranteed for injury to fully guaranteed.
