NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- This week we count down the Titans’ top five bedrock players.

These are the team’s foundational pieces that general manager Ruston Webster and coach Ken Whisenhunt can build around.

We’ll count down from fifth to first day by day.

Right tackle Chance Warmack was fifth.

Tight end Delanie Walker was fourth.

Cornerback Jason McCourty was third.

2) Wide receiver Kendall Wright.

I don’t know if Wright is going to revolutionize the slot position the way his position coach, Shawn Jefferson, has said he can.

But two years into Wright's career, he ranks as the Titans' best and most dangerous offensive weapon.

He lost about 15 pounds from his rookie season to his sophomore campaign and led the Titans with 94 catches and 1,079 yards.

His 11.5 yards per catch aren’t eye opening. But Washington’s Pierre Garcon, a bigger receiver who plays outside more, led the league with 113 catches and averaged 11.9.

The new coaching staff may try to find ways to get Wright deeper more often and throw to him in the red zone more. Dowell Loggains’ offense often looked outside-in. Whisenhunt, who was an NFL tight end, is more likely to have an inside-out offense, which would benefit Wright.

His best skill is in tight space on big downs. He was tied for fifth in the NFL with 30 third-down catches.

He's going to be a centerpiece for Whisenhunt.

ESPN.com’s resident scout Matt Williamson says: “Wright continues to get better and is the surest weapon on this team. A deep threat in college, Tennessee doesn't use him that way but maybe should expand his role in that capacity.”
