Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans ...
The Titans are giving Maikon Bonani and Travis Coons an opportunity to replace Rob Bironas as their kicker, according to the The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. "You're always going to look (at options), but you are going to give them an opportunity to compete and if you feel comfortable with them, that's the direction you can go,'' Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "But I think there will be opportunities potentially for veteran guys, too, if we feel like we need that."
Titans rookie Taylor Lewan's courtroom visit is scheduled for June 16, according to Wyatt, after his pretrial hearing was delayed during a court appearance Monday. Lewan faces three misdemeanor charges — one count of aggravated assault, two counts of assault and battery — from a Dec. 1 incident while at the University of Michigan.
The Titans agreed to terms with five players who took part in their recent rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Running back Waymon James, receiver Julian Horton, offensive lineman Viondy Merisma, cornerback Winston Wright and linebacker David Gilbert all reached deals with the team.
