Griffin: Interception, two passes defensed, 8 tackles

"Ever? National championship. The only interception in the game. To highlight the game, if I’m not mistaken, there were two Heisman Trophy winners in that game, 20-some-plus NFL players, Brian Cushing, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Vince Young. There were a lot of great guys in that game, you can keep going. Clay Matthews was there. Keith Rivers, Rey Maualuga. I had like 10 or 12 tackles, two pass breakups, it was just a great game. It was my birthday, so I just turned 21, so that made it even better. I remember waking up that morning, I told everyone I was 21, I was legally allowed to drink now. You know how college guys are. From that point on it was game day, No. 1 versus No. 2. You’re talking about going to L.A. which was basically USC’s home but it looked like it was a home game for us because we travel well. Vince Young said the year before when we played Michigan in the Rose Bowl we’ll be back for the national championship. That was my first time trying drinking that night. I don’t see how people drink. That was the worst stuff ever. I went down to the bar some guy was like, 'Here you go, Griff, you had a great game.' It was in a can, it might have been a Heineken or something. It was terrible."
