NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- We don’t know if NFL officials will call Week 1 of the regular season as tightly as they called the preseason, with a heavy emphasis on downfield contact.

We do know that the Titans are at risk of a penalty-filled game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs.

Ron Torbert will be the referee for Titans-Chiefs. Last time Tennessee saw him, he and his crew called 32 penalties that were accepted – 22 against the Saints, 10 against the Titans.

We can hope the emphasis is a little less strong and that the Titans and Chiefs play cleaner than the Titans and Saints did.

Maybe it will be completely different.

If it’s similar, it could take the air out of a much-anticipated game.
