“I think they all have to play better. It’s not necessarily his technique that’s struggling it’s more of the things that each week is a different challenge with the type of defenses players he’s playing against, not just him but the rest of the group. Decision making with a combination, oh backer ran through. It’s the speed of the game, things where you go, ‘Oh he’s helping too much,’ ‘Oh, he’s not helping enough.'
“On the first third-and-1, he didn’t help the nose tackle enough, he was worried about getting to his linebacker so you don’t get the right fit with him and Rob and all of a sudden we don’t get a first down. The next time he’s helping too much on the down guy and not getting off on the backer. That’s the life of an offensive lineman and really an NFL player up front in the trenches, on offense or defense. He may have five or six plays like that all game like that, out of 70. I can show you the rest of the plays, 60 plays, where you go man, this guy looks pretty darn good and he does.
“But he’s going to have plays like that still that he’s struggling with and he’s not alone when you have four of your six guys up front that are new, including the tight end, you’re going to have some of this happening at times and it’s got to get better.”
