RTC: Does Vikings game mean anything?
By Paul Kuharsky
Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans...
• Are the Titans ready for the regular season? “The events of Thursday at Mall of America Field probably shouldn’t factor into an opinion considering neither the Titans nor the Vikings put many of their top players on the field,” writes Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.
To which I say: Teams that go 1-3 in the preseason go to the playoffs, and teams that go 3-1 end up terrible. We’ve got 10 days before the Pittsburgh game, and have to dutifully try not to put too much, good or bad, from the preseason into our expectations.
• The Titans were without seven starters on defense in Minnesota, so it’s hard to judge. But a disturbing trend of giving up early scores continued Thursday night, says John Glennon of The Tennessean.
• Middle linebacker Colin McCarthy thought he got better and better in his first action of the preseason, says Glennon.
• We finally saw a bit of Delanie Walker, says Glennon.
