RTC: Titans meet with CJ's agent
By Paul Kuharsky
Reading the coverage of the Tennessee Titans ...
Nothing about Chris Johnson’s status -- which is up in the air -- changed out of a meeting between his agent and the team, says Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.
Jake Matthews’ earliest memories of his father, Bruce Matthews, playing are from the 1999 Super Bowl season, says Wyatt. “... [If] I could do half the things he did, I think I’d have a great career. It’s gonna be hard to get to 19 years and 14 straight Pro Bowls, that could be difficult. ... That’s a pretty lofty goal to shoot for.”
History suggests Johnson won’t be Ken Whisenhunt’s kind of running back, says David Boclair of the Nashville Post.
To which I say: If Johnson’s effort was not to be questioned, if he was more interested in catching passes and if his contract was more reasonable, I think Whisenhunt would happily adjust to a different kind of guy.
Whisenhunt and Ruston Webster both told Wyatt they like Ryan Fitzpatrick.
To which I say: Outside of their lukewarm answers to questions about Johnson, I’ve not heard them give anything close to a negative review of a guy on their roster.
In “true receiving yards,” Kendall Wright ranked 17th in the NFL in 2013, while Nate Washington was 37th according to Chase Stuart of FootballPerspective.com.
