Heat Noteworthy Don’t expect the Heat’s stars to align over the Crescent City in Wednesday’s preseason game against New Orleans. LeBron James was already scheduled to receive a night off before muscle cramps in his right leg forced him out late in Tuesday’s exhibition against CSKA Moscow. James insists he’s fine, but there’s no chance Erik Spoelstra plays James against the Hornets. Dwyane Wade, who has played only 3 minutes, 17 seconds in the preseason opener, continues to nurse a strained right hamstring and will miss his third straight game. That reduces the Heat’s Big 3 to the Lone One -- Chris Bosh. But after playing 34 minutes Tuesday night, Bosh likely won’t make much more than a cameo appearance, if that.
Hornets Noteworthy After getting spanked by 54 points in Orlando on Sunday, the Hornets are trying to regain some sort of rhythm and confidence. New coach Monty Williams is still searching for lineup combinations that work. With West out of the mix tonight, there don’t seem to be enough adequate pieces to put the puzzle together around perennial All-Star Chris Paul. Moving Peja Stojakovic to the bench is designed to give the Hornets’ reserves unit a scoring boost. But that does little to address the team’s lack of size and rebounding in the post.
