Blazer owner Paul Allen has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, according to several reports citing an e-mail from his sister Jody, who is the CEO of his company, Vulcan.

Here's a look at the treatments. Obviously, it's a bad diagnosis, but the Mayo Clinic website says it is one of the cancers for which treatments have improved in recent years.

He has diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and the American Cancer Society website says:

This is a fast growing lymphoma, but it often responds well to treatment with chemotherapy. Overall, about 3 out of 4 people will have no signs of disease after initial treatment, and about half of all people with this lymphoma are cured with therapy.

Allen has already successfully battled a similar disease. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in 1983. L. Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated profiled Allen in 2007:

Allen underwent radiation treatment; the cancer went into remission.

Jody Allen's e-mail says that Paul Allen has started chemotherapy, and remains upbeat. Here's wishing him the best of luck.
