The trading deadline has passed, but official word of today's trades is still not around. In the meantime, the ESPN rumor machine is lapping the field.

The latest is reportedly the Nets' clearing some cap space by ditching their poor-man's Shareef Abdur-Rahim to the Hornets for Yao's ex-sidekick, Bostjan Nachbar.

Imagine how great it would be if Nachbar would add an "s" to the front of his last name.

UPDATE: Dave D'Alessandro has plenty to add. First this description of Nachbar:
if you're not familiar with him, he does only one thing (shoot) and not so well (.374 for his career). Or put it in simple terms, he's not the Slovenian Peja, as he was hyped to be when he was drafted in '02.
And D'Alessandro has a plan to replace Jackson. It's Tim Thomas, who, if he's waived by the Bulls and picked up by Wednesday is eligible for the playoffs:
Thomas obviously wants to play in Jersey, but after all he's been through, he wants to be wanted, too. That means when the Nets sit down with him to discuss joining up, they should tell him this: Don't come in here with any sense of entitlement. If you defend, you will play and restore some of your market value for the summer. If you don't, you'll collect dust. We like you, we believe you can help. Just know beforehand the kind of help we need.

If they're honest, he'll probably bite. And if he can't handle the truth, they're lucky if he passes.
