- If you make smart estimates of Kobe Bryant's upcoming years, he'll obliterate Magic Johnson in the Laker record book.
- Lots of people have addressed yesterday's bullet about LeBron James being called for fouls at half the rate of an average NBA player. One strong theory is that he plays a brand of defense that protects him, as best explained by John Krolik. And peruse this list from TrueHoop reader Neal. Many many many NBA players (even gritty players like Andre Iguodala, Tayshaun Prince and Luol Deng) have had whole seasons getting fewer fouls per minute than LeBron James. And if you want to say that LeBron James is getting away with all kinds of fouls, you're going to have to deal with this guy.
- A theory: That the more you play with Ben Wallace, the more likely you are to be overrated.
- Jay Aych of the Painted Area takes a look at the upcoming EuroLeague Top 16, and some names NBA fans will know pop up on the roster of the favorites: "Barcelona absolutely steamrolled through the first stage of the Euroleague season. Have a ridiculous scoring margin of +20.8 -- nine of ten 1st round games were won by at least double digits. Barca easily dispatched a very good Montepaschi Siena twice (+19 at home, +15 on road). Barca has looked superb on both ends of the floor -- great at every facet of the game -- and is currently the best team outside the NBA. Lot of raw talent that has subjugated their egos and accepted their roles to form a scary, cohesive unit. [Ricky] Rubio, [Juan Carlos] Navarro, Pete Mickeal, Erazem Lorbek and Fran Vasquez have all played great for Barca.
- Sherman Alexie really did, honestly, write a poem about adjusted plus/minus, and you should read it, unless you're Allen Iverson's agent.
- Rob Mahoney of the Two Man Game, speaking absolute fact: "The natural chemistry between Andrew Bogut and Brandon Jennings is a little strange and totally excellent."
- Doc Rivers does not think the return of Kevin Garnett solves his team's rebounding troubles.
- Ezra Ace Caraeff of Portland Roundball Society: "I should thank the technological Gods that I never had access to a cell phone or digital camera when I was [Greg] Oden's age. I can only cringe at the unflattering archive of ill-advised photos, 'sexts' (Finally, we get to use this word in the blog. I feel so young!), and other questionable transmissions I would have sent during that time in my life."
