Carmelo Anthony Gets Into Auto Racing

Curt Cavin at the Indianapolis Star writes:

The Denver Nuggets forward is lending his support to race driver P.J. Chesson, who will be a rookie in the Indy Racing League's IndyCar Series this season.

It's an unlikely set of personalities that has joined Hemelgarn Racing. Rock star Gene Simmons, whose marketing company is promoting the IRL this year, is behind the sponsorship of the free-spirited Chesson.

As I have written before, I admire how ballsy Carmelo Anthony can be.

First he was really frank about his rough Baltimore upbringing, talking about things I'm guessing a lot of racing fans don't like to hear, like why he will never trust cops. Now he's all over one of the whitest sports in the world.

That's healthy fearlessness.
