  • LeBron James's mom is late to court to discuss the incident in which she was maced by the police.
  • Shocking Pape Sow hand gesture. Must read. (Via Celtics Blog.)
  • Chris Webber says the Sixers are sending a message: "We're sending a message that we don't really give a damn sometimes." The Sixers are in the eighth spot, but they're trying like hell to give it away. Who'd rather play the Pistons than be in the lottery? Chicago? Anyone?
  • 'Wolves Owner Glen Taylor on trading Kevin Garnett: "I do not see that as a possibility... As I stand here, I just don't see a possibility that makes sense." It's not standing here now that matters... it's when you're sitting in your big executive chair this summer. What about then?
  • The stats of the current win streak are totally different from the stats of their other big win streak. For one thing, those were high scoring games, and these are low scoring games. In this streak, they have opponents shooting 38%. The defensive lights have come on, for sure.
  • Moneyball comes to the NBA for real: statistical analyst Daryl Morey to call the shots for the Houston Rockets.
  • Laker Assistant Coach Brian Shaw tells the Lakers blog he is doing Smush Parker's trash talking for him: "One game, we played Golden State, the first time we played them up in Oakland this year, I went over to Baron Davis, who was talking to Smush Parker before the game.  I said, 'Baron, he was talking all kinds of stuff about you in the locker room about how he doesn't respect your game and he's gonna go at you tonight,' because I wanted Smush to be alert and right on top of his game from the very beginning.  And Smush played one of his best games of the year.  But he had to, because once I said that to Baron, I knew Baron was going to go at him. BK:  Was it true? BS:  No, he didn't say that at all."
  • Mini-sculpture of Sebastian Telfair. (via Eric Marentette.)
  • Doc Rivers on the Orien Greene speeding incident, as reported by Steve Bulpett: “I’m just disappointed in what happened. One of the things we talked about before the year is respecting your teammates, respect the community, respect your jersey, respect your last name. You have to do that, and I think our players have to be held accountable for it. You just have to be a professional... To me, breaking the law is one thing. That’s something you just shouldn’t do. Everyone’s gotten a speeding ticket, but the fact that he got it at 3:30 in the morning bothers me, too. I think athletes at times believe they’re invincible, but you have to have respect. Orien violated the rules, and he has to pay the consequences for it.”
  • Audio of Blazer owner Paul Allen meeting the press. Ian Furness says he has heard it was edited to remove the stickier moments. I wasn't there, but plenty of reporters were. I'm sure we'll get a final ruling on that later today.
