- Real World Key West is more fun to watch than the Warriors. But with Ike Diogu and Monta Ellis doing their things, Golden State took the season series from the Mavericks.
- Learn the name: Jose Juan Barea needed only three games to get 41 assists at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.
- All four teams vying for the final spots in the East won last night. Dave D'Alessandro's advice to the Bulls: claw your way to #6. Chicago's 2-2 against the Nets, and 0-10 against Cleveland, Detroit, and Miami. This Sun Times article has a nice little box showing the standings and remaining schedules of Indiana, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Philadelphia. It's close!
- John Canzano's suggestion for the Blazers: " Nobody is going to trade for [Darius Miles] if you wait until the summer. So why not cut him now thereby maximizing the chance that someone with an open roster spot this summer will claim him and relieve the Blazers of his salary?" UPDATE: Canzano updates his story, and says "there's definitely some strategy to waiving the guy under the new CBA." The key piece he didn't acknowledge in the first version, but does now, is that if the Blazers waive Miles, and no other team claims him, they get to pay him the entirety of his contract without even having him play.
- Blazers Edge by the numbers.
- Who's a hothead? Rasheed Wallace gets mauled by Anderson Varejao, does not retaliate. Somehow the play didn't make it into the NBA's highlights package, but you can see Rasheed hit a left-handed halfcourt shot in warmups.
- Kelly Dwyer ranks just about every NBA broadcaster, and somehow nobody gets an F. Subtext: Kelly watches a lot of League Pass.
- Hey, looks like that Paul Pierce is pretty good.
- Police want your help identifying Julius Hodge's shooter by the shiny rims of his car. The guy who owns the club Hodge was leaving seems to be suggesting Hodge's bandana might have had something to do with it. If Hodge were white, that story wouldn't have made USA Today.
- Speaking of NBA reporters who play basketball, Chris Broussard says he has the lowdown on the hoops skills of Ric Bucher (sore loser), Mike Wise, Shaun Powell, Jerry Bembry, Matt Steinmetz, Stephen A. Smith, Marc Stein, Frank Hughes, Marc Spears, Chris Palmer, Chris Ballard, Marty Burns, Rick Telander, and Israel Gutierrez. But he's not telling.
- If I really wanted credibility I wouldn't pass along stuff like this. But it's so fun: Ben Maller hears that Jermaine O'Neal is angling for a trade to Portland (where his wife is from, and he makes his off-season home are). Theo Ratliff and Darius Miles make salary sense.
- Houston GM-to-be Daryl Morey speaks, says he's grading scouts, and influenced Boston's Gerald Green pick.
- Ira Winderman says the Heat should deal Antoine Walker.
- Michael McCann examines Joakim Noah's apparent decision to stay in school.
- Clippers bloggers are making fun of the sad state of Portland's franchise.
- Looks like the Lakers are starting their own D-league team.
- Scary: Pat Riley and Phil Jackson agree on something.
