Shortly after turning down the chance to be the Cavaliers' head coach, Brian Shaw was on the Mason & Ireland show on ESPN radio in Los Angeles (via Sports Radio Interviews), and described the conversations he had with the Cavaliers:
The three owners flew in, the GM, and the assistant GM. Monday we went from like 3:30 p.m. to midnight, Tuesday we went from about 10:00 'til 4:00. At the end of each day, after they asked me all the questions and things that they did, they asked me if I had any questions of them. And the entire time that we were talking for the most part, they were talking like LeBron was on the team.
When I got a chance to ask questions, of course my first question was let’s talk about the possibility of him not returning to the team and what things are going to look like then and what plans you have to fortify the team and make it better. It was an issue that they didn’t really want to think about or to talk about.
I kinda felt like maybe they know something that I don’t know.
I felt like it was something that really needed to be addressed and we didn’t really ever address it to the depth I felt it needed to be addressed.
