Marc Stein of ESPN, and Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News are both reporting that the Mavericks have traded Marquis Daniels to Indiana for Austin Croshere.

Keith Van Horn is a free agent, and apparently the Mavericks can't stand the thought of going without an underperforming, overpaid white guy coming off the bench.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense on both accounts. The Pacers have been trying to move Croshere since the ink dried on his massive contract years ago. The Mavericks can now let free agent Van Horn walk, and then Croshere's salary comes off the books next summer. In the meantime, the tiny amount of playing time Daniels ended up getting in Dallas when it counted (despite his own sizable contract) can hopefully be mopped up by rookie Maurice Ager.
