UPDATE: Sounds like the Dixon deal is for real, and all the good information you could want is over at Eric Marentette's Blazer Blog on OregonLive. Also, something I forgot when talking about all the guards the Blazers have is that there have been several reports the Blazers will be signing Charles Smith. That's one more guard!
This is a classic case of he said/she said. Hoopshype is reporting that Portland TV station KGW is reporting that the Blazers have signed Juan Dixon to a three-year deal.
Only the KGW website that HoopsHype links to as its source makes no mention of it at the moment.
Hmm...
Here's what I don't get: do the Blazers really need another guard? Sebastian Telfair, Jarrett Jack, and Martell Webster will all certainly be on the floor. Derek Anderson might start. Sergei Monia, Darius Miles, Travis Outlaw, and Ruben Patterson would all like some time at the two. Richie Frahm I have no idea about, but I assume won't be back.
It's just a lot of guards. I suppose the thinking is that the only two who can really play the point, Telfair and Jack, are both incredibly green. I guess that's it.
I would also guess that some of those players I have listed above will not be happy with their playing time this season.
In other Blazer news, Joel Pryzbilla is fifth in Dan Rosenbaum's list of the best defenders in the NBA at his position, according to a rigorous statistical analysis.
