- Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports Heat coach Pat Riley is worried about Dwyane Wade's health: "Riley revealed for the first time the seriousness of the surgery Wade underwent on his left shoulder last May. 'I don't think anybody realizes how bad this was.' Riley said. 'It was a reverse dislocation, which doesn't happen that much. And he had nerve damage.'"
- Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial-Appeal writes that Mike Miller is the 'X' factor for the Grizzlies: "The Grizzlies have earned their 10 victories with Miller scoring 17 or more points, and the team is 0-15 when he is held under 17. ... Miller is on pace to achieve a career first this season, shooting at least at least 50 percent from the field (51.2 percent), 40 percent from 3-point range (42.9) and 80 percent from the free throw line (82.2). Phoenix's Steve Nash, Washington's Caron Butler and Sacramento's John Salmons are the only other players in the NBA that are matching Miller's accomplishment so far this season."
- According to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, after losing to Boston on Saturday, fans have become bandwagon jumpers: "Dang, people, it was just one loss. All of a sudden, judging from my email basket, Flip Saunders can't coach. Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess are too old. Chauncey Billups is over-rated. Are you serious?"
- A reader asked Sam Smith of The Chicago Tribune about Tyrus Thomas: "A reader claimed the Bulls were 20-5 when Thomas played at least 15 minutes. I'll call the reader Joe only because that is his name. So I looked it up, and it wasn't quite that. He was close. It's 6-9 this season. But the Bulls were 25-5 last season when Thomas played at least 15 minutes ..."
- According to Tim Povtak of the Orlando Sentinel, Hedo Torkoglu is enjoying his best season as a pro: "In his eighth NBA season, Turkoglu suddenly has become a semi-star, the complete player who has been lying dormant for so many years, easily having the finest run of his basketball career. ... 'Before I was always a role guy. Now I'm a main guy,' Turkoglu said. 'I've just never been in this kind of situation before. It's new for me, but I like it.'"
- Scott Bordow of the East Valley Tribune writes that the Suns have some issues and the biggest is selfishness, which is hurting the team: "Let's be clear: This isn't an epidemic that's sweeping through Phoenix's locker room. The Suns are still in first place in the Pacific Division, they'll still win 55 games or so and be one of the favorites when the playoffs begin. There are about 25 NBA teams that would love to have their problems. But the 'disease of me' is clawing at the Suns, threatening not only this season but the team's future and Mike D'Antoni's job security. ... The Suns aren't coming apart at the seams, but their threads are showing."
- When will Darius Miles play? Kerry Eggers of The Portland Tribune tries to get an answer: "'He still has a ways to go,' Nate McMillan says. 'So far, he's mostly been doing one-on-one or two-on-two stuff.' ... 'He's getting closer, but he still has to get in game shape,' Kevin Pritchard says. 'He has to get at a specific weight, and where he can run up and down and not have any issues with the leg.' ... 'It's up to (team officials) now,' Miles says. 'I can play. I can practice any day they practice. There's no pain in the knee. I'm ready to go.'"
