No Longer Supersonic

They took the word "Seattle" away back in March. But now it doesn't say "Supersonics" on what used to be the Supersonics website either. (Via NewsOK.com's Tony Mejia.)

The Seattle Supersonics really are no more.

Until further notice, it's the "NBA OKC" site. The team is simply referred to as "Oklahoma City" for now.

(And actually, how about that? If you can have the Heat or the Jazz, why not a team called the "City?" The team could actually be called The Oklahoma City. It's kind of cool for a second. But then, the more you think about it, not exactly perfect.)

In the last 48 hours I have been getting all kinds of e-mails from people buzzing about the new name. Everyone seems to think they know it's about to be announced, and everyone seems to think they know what it will be.

But no one has decent sources, so until that changes, we'll have to sit tight, while people in Seattle will have to start using the internet archive to find stories about their old team.
