ParkerThe game-winner was Parker’s sixth basket of the game. His last two shots were the only ones he made outside the paint on six tries the whole night.
We went through our buzzer-beater database to look at some of the best notes and nuggets on that shot.
• It was Parker’s second career game-winning buzzer-beater. The other came in January 2009 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
• It was the fifth buzzer-beating game-winner for the Spurs in the last five seasons. That tied the Los Angeles Lakers for the most in the NBA in that span.
• This was the first buzzer-beater loss for the Thunder since the team moved to Oklahoma City prior to the 2008-09 season.
• This was also an unusual loss for the Thunder in that they outrebounded the Spurs, 48-39. Last season, when the Thunder outrebounded an opponent by at least nine boards, they went 16-1.
Speaking of Durant, he’s the subject of our Elias Stat of the Night.
The 24-year-old Durant became the second-youngest player in NBA history to reach the 10,000-point mark for his career.
The only one to get there at a younger age was LeBron James, who reached that milestone at age 23.
