One game I was looking out for: Oklahoma City at Portland. This is when you're most likely to see some kind of something from jilted Seattlites, who live just up the road.
I was not at all surprised to see that game was put off until the very last days of the season, when the national focus will be on playoff races and MVP awards, and tempers will have cooled as much as possible.
That game will not take place until April 13, 2009 (the two teams first face each other in Oklahoma City in early April) which is so long from now that some of those who will be in the stands that night have not even been born yet.
UPDATE: I am an idiot. Or at least someone who needs to re-take some basic reading comprehension. What I missed entirely, when writing the above post, was the fact that Portland and Oklahoma City play twice in February, as well.
So the basic principle still applies. No early season meetings while wounds are fresh. But my talk of dates was entirely faulty. Those two teams meet on February 6 and 11, with the latter of those two being the first time the former Sonics will visit the Pacific Northwest post-divorce.
