It's funny, but when I saw that Kobe Bryant had hurt his finger, it never occurred to me that he would miss much action. A finger injury? On that guy? The one who played just about all of last season with an unhinged pinkie?
He has just been so consistently so tough for so long.
Here he is talking about the extraordinary pain he was in, and how unlikely it would be that it'll affect his play.
When you always show up like that, year after year, I guess it's probably easy to declare that the guy has some kind of gift. He's tough. He can play in pain. He has tremendous desire. Like somehow he's lucky, or magical.
But I'm open to the idea that it's not really magic at all. Perhaps he's just putting up with hassles that a lot of people wouldn't.
