Kobe's clutch stats corrected

By Marc Stein

Had a note in the latest Weekend Dime on Kobe Bryant's crunch-time success rate that, due to a communication/assembly mishap and my own lack of precision, was not 100 percent correct.

Kobe has indeed drained 16 game-winning buckets in his regular-season career in the final five seconds of the fourth quarter or overtime, most in the league since Bryant's arrival in L.A. in 1996-97.

But Kobe is shooting 16-for-55 in those situations, not 16-for-29 as incorrectly reported the first time.

Dallas' Vince Carter is the closest to Kobe in attempts in those situations among active players, according to ESPN Stats & Info, at 11-for-45.

New York's Carmelo Anthony and Boston's Ray Allen are next in line in terms of makes with 14 and 12, respectively.
