Vote: What should Redskins do with Kirk Cousins?

play
Is fear motivating Kirk Cousins' contract stall? (1:52)

SVP's 1 Big Thing: Scott Van Pelt believes that the Redskins should put a franchise tag on QB Kirk Cousins and hope that he can repeat the success he showed in the final 10 games of the season, when he had 23 touchdowns and just three interceptions. (1:52)

The NFL is a quarterback league. If you have one, your team is in the Super Bowl conversation. If not ... well, it's much more difficult.

The Washington Redskins may have found their franchise quarterback in Kirk Cousins, who led them to the playoffs last season.

They would like to sign Cousins to a long-term contract, but at the right price. If they place the franchise tag on Cousins, it would cost them approximately $20 million for a one-year contract, based on current projections. So, that begs the question above.
